Bowlees Visitor Centre

Randall Orchard Construction was awarded the role of main contractor on the alterations and refurbishment of an existing visitors centre to provide an improved and extended Visitor Centre Experience. The client secured funding from several funders including the Heritage Lottery Fund and the North Pennine Dales Leader Fund.

The project comprised of the removal of the existing first floor structure and all the existing internal fixtures and fittings, stripping the structure back. We installed a new steel frame to support the new first floor structure including staircase. We installed a new specialist catering kitchen; new seating area; display area and shop area. New electrics and plumbing were installed. Externally a new store was constructed and toilets refurbished. New car parking was created including an electric vehicle charging point and bike wash facility.

We worked very closely with the Client and their specialist contractors. Chris Woodley-Stewart, director of the North Pennines AONB Partnership, said:

“We are incredibly pleased to breathe new life into the Bowless Visitor Centre.”

The project was completed safely and to a high standard and to the Client’s tight budget constraints.
